What We Do
What We DoFluidIQs’ focus is in the application of digital technology in the industrial environment. The company’s system expertise comprises programmable logic controllers (PLC's), remote telemetry units (RTU's), PC-based Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), distributed control systems (DCS), wired and wireless telemetry, Information systems, fiber-optic networks, instrumentation, and motor controls. Capabilities include engineering services, manufacturing, field services, and customer training. FluidIQs specializes in turnkey control system projects in a variety of municipal markets. Engineering Services • Hardware Design– Our engineers and designers apply their extensive experience to turn contract plans and specifications into detailed designs incorporating all the codes and requirements associated with the NEC and UL508 certification. We incorporate our standard designs whenever possible to provide a value-engineered solution. In many instances this results in a more robust design than the contract plans and specifications call for. Of course we also work from conceptual narratives and provide the same value-based solutions by drawing on our experience and applying our design standards. Our engineers can provide detailed equipment designs for all aspects of electrical supply from service entrance (Transformers, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers) through to detailed control (Process and Analytical Instrumentation definition and selection, PLC/RTU Control Panel design).
• Software Design

– Our engineers create Software Requirements Specifications based on the control strategies provided in specifications or from a narrative of expected operation. We evaluate the requirements for user interaction with the underlying software and select an appropriate Human Machine Interface (HMI) based on the user’s requirements. The Graphical User Interface is the window into the world of computer control and our software engineers bring their experience with the needs and wants of end users into play when designing appropriate interfaces into the physical operation of the project. Our standard objects and operation interfaces allow us to deliver superior solutions while bringing value through reduced one time engineering efforts. • Network Design – Our engineers are well versed in completing the conceptual design of communication networks. We refer to them as network architects because of their ability to visualize robust networks and deliver solutions that incorporate the latest developments in technology. We provide wired and wireless solutions for varying types of data and varying throughput requirements. Our designs take into account future requirements such as video (for security) and Voice over IP (VoIP).
• System Engineering– System engineering embodies all of the aspects of hardware, software, and network design. The complete solution combines all of the disparate components and provides the customer with an integrated control package of equipment and software connected across local area networks or wide area networks as required by the network architecture.
Manufacturing • FluidIQs employs skilled manufacturing technicians that implement the hardware designs submitted to the client. We modify Switchgear and Motor Control Centers to add the control elements required by the design for the monitoring and control of the process. Custom control panels are fabricated, complying with UL508 requirements, per the final design documents. Instrumentation assemblies are fabricated to aid in simplified installation. All assemblies are tested internally to insure correct and fully functional construction. In-house factory tests are conducted to prove the functionality of the software and hardware.
Field Services
• Installation – FluidIQs maintains a current C-10 Electrical Contractors licenses and our field service engineers can provide installation assistance either by providing labor directly or by coordinating the efforts of a licensed Electrical Contractor who has subcontracted to FluidIQs.
• Calibration – Our field service engineers are manufacturer trained to calibrate and place into service the wide range of instrumentation being provided on all of the projects we undertake.
• Radio Surveys – In many instances we are called upon to design a network based on the use of radio technology. One of the services we provide is to conduct a radio frequency propagation study to determine the viability of a radio based solution for the communication network. The results of this study determine the direction that will be taken in designing the communication network and take into account the application of different types of radios (broadband versus narrowband).
• Technical Services – Our field service engineers can provide a variety of technical services that include modifications to existing software programs in PLCs and RTUs. It is not unusual for our engineers to modify or upgrade existing HMI or SCADA software applications. Commissioning– A vital part of any project is the verification of the installation of instrumentation and control equipment. Out field service engineers provide Operational Readiness Testing and Functional Acceptance Testing of all of the projects we engage in. These tests verify the installation, calibration, and operation of the equipment provided on the project.
• Maintenance– Once a project is commissioned we provide follow on services that may include extended maintenance contracts. Equipment failures and software anomalies are always covered during the warranty period of the project. Quite often the customer wishes to engage in a long term maintenance and upgrade agreement that allows for unfettered access to FluidIQs. Customer Training• FluidIQs provides extensive customer training to support the hardware and software delivered on the project. We provide Operation and Maintenance Manuals that detail the specifics of the hardware provided and describe the functions of the application software provided. The training is targeted for the operation and maintenance staff to provide them with the knowledge required to operate and maintain the control system installed and implemented.
