TECHNOLOGY FIRM FLUIDIQS ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP
Napa, CA – October 5, 2005 – FluidIQs, Inc., a leader in the design and integration of instruments and control systems for water and wastewater agencies, announced today the appointment of Michael E. Johnson as President and Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Thomas C. Nelson, Founder, who will assume a newly created role leading innovation within the company.
Tom Nelson founded FluidIQs in 1978 and has grown the company into one of the most respected water and wastewater technology integrators in California. In 2003, Mr. Nelson and Mr. Johnson joined in creating their vision for the company’s future: to be the recognized leader in their business throughout the Western United States. Since that time, FluidIQs has expanded operations with a substantial presence in Southern California, and has begun building the systems and process infrastructure to support this growth. Originally known as Control Manufacturing Company (and later CMC), the company adopted FluidIQs as its new corporate name in 2004.
In announcing the new structure, Mr. Nelson said, “To reach our fullest growth potential, I decided several months ago to seek someone who had the strategic insight and leadership abilities to lead our company to the next level. I’ve worked closely with Mike Johnson for the last two years and I saw that he has those skills. I’m excited that Mike has accepted the challenge to lead FluidIQs.”
Mr. Nelson continued, “My new role as advisor/entrepreneur within the company will allow me time to work with customers and employees on an individual basis exploring solutions to problems. I have always been energized by challenging technical problems, chasing new business opportunities and most of all, being an entrepreneur.”
Mr. Johnson commented, “The entrepreneurial spirit that Tom brings to FluidIQs has been essential in building the company to this stage, and our future success is assured by enabling his creative energies to be shared with all of our employees. Tom demonstrates a passion for innovation and problem solving that’s at the heart of our business.”
Michael Johnson joins FluidIQs with nearly twenty years of experience in the management and delivery of professional services in a variety of organizations. He is a Founder and Managing Director of Glenmount, a private equity firm whose objective is providing the capital, strategic, and leadership resources necessary for industrial companies to effectively apply proven technologies to serve their customers on a world class level. Since Glenmount’s founding in 1998, he has been instrumental in the growth of four promising companies. Mr. Johnson spent the early part of his career at two of the world’s largest professional service institutions before founding Bainbridge Group, a professional firm providing corporate law and business consulting services, in 1994. Mr. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business finance from San Diego State University, and a juris doctorate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. In addition to his new role, Mr. Johnson will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of FluidIQs.
