FluidIQs team member of successful Co-Composting Facility project

"The Co-Composting Facility is a truesuccess," stated Board President Wyatt Troxel.
Inland Empire - At its regular board meeting in January, 2007, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency's (IEUA) Board of Directors proclaimed IEUA's Co-Composting Facility Project a success by meeting its purpose and goal to cost-effectively recycle biosolids and dairy manure thus assisting in the protection of the Chino Groundwater Basin.
FluidIQs designed, supplied and installed a fully redundant SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system at the facility, coupled to a state-of-the-art programmable logic system in a split control dual redundant configuration, performing process control and back up in the event of system failure.
The system utilizes a fiber optic backbone which allowed FluidIQs to place remote input output controls throughout the plant. While the SCADA system monitors, a separate database server logs all occurrences in the plant at all times. All systems communicate via a dedicated fiber optic Ethernet.
Composting is unique by nature, performed on long piles of green waste (known as windrows) literally scattered on a plant floor, in this case the size of 1 ½ football fields. Part of the complexity of the project involved the management of chemicals used to control the waste mixture in a continuous process route. FluidIQs engineered a solution for monitoring the temperature of the compost piles using a radio communication system between probes for different radio units located in the plant.
In parallel, FluidIQs also designed and assisted with the installation of a complete office network involving 25 to 30 workstation outlets with a file server, a domain controller, and voice over IP (VOIP) telephony throughout the plant, finally integrating all this into an existing plant that is across the street.
Inland Empire represents a turn key solution developed by FluidIQs, a complete plant integration system from office infrastructure and the control system integrated into one package.
The systems installation provided by FluidIQs allows Inland Empire to operate with more sophistication, fewer people, and increased uniformity in the resulting product. With improved quality control, and more efficient production, the ability to forecast production more accurately is also achieved.
